Let your registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) help you learn how to optimize your nutrition habits to succeed both before and after bariatric surgery.

Did you know?

If you struggle with your weight, have been recommended by your doctor to seek out weight loss surgery, and meet the requirements, bariatric surgery may be right for you. Your weight may be causing other struggles in your life, and surgery has been found to be effective in improving certain conditions. These include back pain, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, diabetes, GERD/heartburn, high cholesterol, incontinence, shortness of breath, and depression.

One study shows that patients can maintain around 50% loss of extra weight 10 years post-surgery. This is maintained by following a dramatic lifestyle change, sustaining habits along the way.

Going through weight loss surgery and after can be one of the most overwhelming experiences in your life.

Before surgery, there are significant nutrition modifications that take place and it is important to follow these recommendations closely. Similarly, post-surgery requires weeks and months of a difficult diet to follow to stay satisfied and safe. To recover quickly, food and supplements are necessary in the right forms.

Evidence shows that surgery is just a tool to help you on your health journey. It is not a “quick fix” or “magic pill”. The most important for you will be the behavior modification and commitment to eating right/exercising.
